Enzo Sellerio (Italian, 1924-2012) Vizzini, 1955 Gelatin silver exhibition print, printed after 1955. Signed in ink and with artist's copyright stamp, verso. image: 18-7/8 x 12-5/8 inches (47.9 x 32.1 cm) sheet: 19-3/4 x 13-5/9 inches PROVENANCE: Acquired directly from the artist. A native of Palermo, with an Italian father and Russian mother, Enzo Sellerio initially studied law and was for some time a lecturer in law at the University of Palermo before becoming a full-time photographer in the early 1950s. His work focuses mostly on everyday Sicilian life, as here, although in the mid-1960s he also spent a short period in the U.S. working as a freelance photographer for Vogue and Fortune magazines. Neutral toned print on semi-gloss, double-weight paper with margins. Small speck of retouching, just below window, visible in a raking light only. A beautiful print, in very good condition. Loose print sold unmatted and unframed.
