Lot Details
Bill Owens (American, b. 1938) Wrong attitude toward sex; People throw away a lot of good things (from Suburbia) (2 works), 1971 Gelatin silver prints, printed 2010 7-1/4 x 9-1/4 inches (18.4 x 23.5 cm) (images) 8 x 10 inches (sheets) Signed and editioned 4/15 in pencil, and with Portfolio stamp, verso. "We feel most people have the wrong attitude towards sex, that it's nasty and to be done only in the dark. With us sex takes care of itself" "People throw away a lot of good things: clothes, toys, broken toasters, record players, and in the newer areas they throw out tables and chairs that don't fit in their new house. The ecology movement doesn't matter. I make over $250 in coke bottles. People here can't realize there are poor people in the world. They can't think about the needs of other people." LITERATURE: B. Owens, Suburbia, Straight Arrow Books, San Francisco/ Quick Fox, New York, 1973. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Both prints in excellent condition and cornered into archival mats. Unframed.
