- In his work, Trevor Paglen explores phenomena such as espionage, conspiracy, and secrecy, addressing complex issues such as mass surveillance, data collection, secret satellite and drone operations, and the power systems associated with them. - From a great distance, his images show secret military bases and skylines with visible drone flight paths. - The artist draws on secret documents, such as Wikileaks, and uses artificial intelligence and astronomical instruments such as telescopes with long focal lengths and large-format cameras. - The artist's works are part of important museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D.C., the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. - In 2016, Paglen's drone photographs won the prestigious Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. - In 2014, Paglen's film work for the documentary “Citizenfour” (directed by Laura Poitras) was awarded an Oscar.
