- Made during a trip to France in 1926 during which the artist found inspiration for spontaneous yet confident watercolors. - As of the late 1920s, Heckel increasingly devoted himself to landscapes, both in Germany and on his travels throughout Europe. - Together with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl, Erich Heckel was a founding member of the artist group "Brücke" in 1905.
We are grateful to Mrs. Renate Ebner, Erich Heckel Estate in Hemmenhofen, for her kind support in cataloging this lot.
