For this project, Boltanski photographically recorded the entire material possessions of an anonymous woman from the Parisian suburb of Bois-Colombes – from clothing to the most intimate objects of everyday life. Rather than creating a conventional portrait, Boltanski reconstructs the identity and social reality of a lived life exclusively through the everyday traces left behind.
