Harry Anthony DeYoung (American, 1893-1956) Rock in Upper Limpia Canyon, circa 1940 Oil on board 12 x 16 inches (30.5 x 40.6 cm) Signed lower right: Harry Anthony DeYoung Titled on the reverse: Rock in Upper Limpia Canyon Harry DeYoung was an honor student at the Art Institute of Chicago before serving in the military during World War I. After teaching at various art schools, the artist founded the DeYoung Art School in San Antonio in 1928. After a stroke paralyzed DeYoung's right side, he painted with his left hand until his death in 1956.
