Eight People from Europe
Kasper König curates the opening exhibition 'Eight People from Europe' for The Museum of Modern Art in Gunma in Takasaki, Japan, in 1998. Among the participating artists are Marlene Dumas, Peter Fischli & David Weiss, Katharina Fritsch, Douglas Gordon, Sigmar Polke and Franz West. Swiss artist Niele Toroni has also been invited by the curator. As part of the exhibition, the artist is using posters for his own artwork. The offset motif is the exhibition poster, which Toroni sticks together in rows during the installation and adds his typical brushstrokes. The work is then also presented in the exhibition and afterwards Toroni gives Kasper König the work with brushstrokes for his collection.
