The present work comes from the collection of Girard (Jerry) Jackson, a close friend of Bernstein and her husband, fellow artist William Meyerowitz, and a dedicated champion of her legacy. First meeting the couple in 1972, Jackson played a pivotal role in promoting Bernstein's work, organizing exhibitions, placing paintings in public collections, and supporting scholarly initiatives that helped secure her place within twentieth-century American art.
