Thus, the Bible passed to eldest nephew George Russell Shaw (1848-1937), a prominent Boston architect and an early patron of the Society of Arts & Crafts in that city, specializing in leatherwork and bookbinding together with his wife, Emily Mott Shaw (1848-1927). He almost certainly designed and built the accompanying leather box on chest specifically to preserve the Family Bible
