W. Harrison, Heidelberg, Germany, acquired from the above, 1955; Private collection, Texas. The present work represents a variation on one of Adolf Eberle's most popular motifs. The proud Dachshund appears elsewhere in Eberle's body of work with some slight differences, namely in the color of the horse at left. On cradled panel support. Minor frame abrasion at edges. Finely patterned craquelure throughout. Very slight yellowing to the varnish layer. Minor surface dust. Not examined out of frame. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Scattered small dots of retouching at edges. Scattered instances of finely applied strengthening to some areas of red and black pigment.
