Thrasher, the son of William Robert Thrasher-- a self-taught Texas artist-- was born in Paris, Texas, in 1940. His paintings reflect the world that has surrounded him throughout his life. He has stated ''The entire natural world is a masterpiece of creation. As an artist, my aim is to accurately put on canvas the details and beauty that nature provides." He has been a professional artist since 1962 and his paintings have been featured as covers on magazines such as National Wild Turkey Federation, Texas Outdoors Journal, Independent Cattlemen, and Safari Club. He was selected Texas Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, South Carolina Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, and featured artist at the National Wildlife Art Show.
