- Large-format, vibrant watercolor with expressive forms and brilliant colors. - Highly emotional: Schmidt-Rottluff impressively captures the inner life, longing, and hope of the female figure gazing toward the horizon. - The depiction of man in dialog with nature is a recurring theme in the artist's work. - From 1920 onwards, Jershöft on the Baltic Sea became a central source of inspiration for the artist and an important retreat for his creative work. - Other watercolors from this creative phase can be found in important museum collections, including the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main.
