Lot Details
Signed lower right: Nancy Lamb
Private collection, Omaha, Nebraska.
Nancy Lamb (American, 1956) Cattle Drive at Livestock Exchange Building in Fort Worth Texas, 2003 Oil on canvas 36 x 84 inches (91.4 x 213.4 cm) Signed lower right: Nancy Lamb Signed and dated on the stretcher: Nancy Lamb 2003 PROVENANCE: Private collection, Omaha, Nebraska. Nancy Lamb has long been a beloved fixture of the Texas art community. She is most famous for her "social spaces" paintings, but she has also produced many works that celebrate Texas and the city of Fort Worth. One stunning example is Cattle Drive at Livestock Exchange Building in Fort Worth Texas. The acute cropping and extended formats exaggerate the drama of this imagined scene and creates a heroic composition of Fort Worth's famous heard of longhorns, which are driven through the historic Stockyards daily, with some of the city's most important landmarks in the background. It truly is a special work, brilliantly commemorating the history of Fort Worth and its bright future. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Unlined canvas. A few areas of slight yellow discoloration on the extreme edges of the canvas onto the tacking edges. Two tiny 1 inch scuffs in the blue upper right quadrant, notable under close inspection.
