Totoya Hokkei (Japanese, 1780-1850) Mt. Fuji, with a poem by Ryueishi Shicho, circa 1825 Surimono woodblock on paper 7-7/8 x 6-7/8 ines (20.0 x 17.5 cm) (sheet, shikishiban) Signed: Hokkei Property from the Nelkin Collection HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
A tranquil surimono print. Sheet is laid to a backing support sheet. The condition of the work is consistent with its age. Mild toning to sheet, appearing slightly heavier along extreme edges. Mild accretions throughout sheet. Some creasing primarily evident along vertically oriented laid chain lines of sheet. A few very small, mild marks primarily evident in uninked areas and on verso, do not appear to majorly impact image. Mild delamination at corners between the primary and secondary supports. Unframed. No major tears or losses observed.
