Title: Water board 000009.
Date: 2012.
Handmade paper sheet, 2-ply couched, with stencil reservage technique.
Depiction Size: 90 x 68,5cm.
Notation: Signed (verso).
Publisher: Griffelkunst-Vereinigung Hamburg e.V. (publisher).

Condition:
The artwork is in very good condition.

Each with typographical information about the work and publisher verso. Here, the artist denounces a scandal that became known from media reports that American soldiers had used the internationally outlawed torture method of 'waterboarding' during the Gulf Wars. For her work, Jenny Holzer used the original, enlarged CIA documents in which the torture method is documented. Holzer blacked out the text blocks except for key words. The work was extremely elaborately produced, as each motif was created from two different types of paper. Even the lettering is not printed, but scooped into shape. Each work is therefore unique.

Literature:
- Rüggeberg, Harald (ed.): Griffelkunst - Verzeichnis der Editionen (2010-2020), Volume IV, Hamburg 2011, No. 345/346 P7.
