Nau, III, Houston Michael Frary attended college at University of Southern California, where he graduated with a degree in architecture and a Master of Fine Arts degree. In 1949, Frary moved to San Antonio to serve as the artist-in-residence and faculty chairman at the Marion Koogler McNay Museum. In 1955, he accepted a faculty position at the University of Texas in Austin. In 1970, he was awarded full professorship, and in 1986, the artist was named Professor Emeritus of Art.
