Mixed media . Oil, gouache, sand and scratch technique on thin cardboard. Signed and dated lower right, once more signed and dated in the image on the right. 62 x 43 cm. , the full sheet. [EH].
- "Horse and rider" is Marino Marini's most important motif. - This central motif symbolizes the relationship between man and animal, culture and nature. - Marini participated in the documenta several times: 1 (1955), II (1959) and III (1964); major retrospectives of his work were held in Zurich in 1962 and in Rome in 1966. - Marini's sculptures, paintings and prints can be found in the Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Milan, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Venice, Tate Modern, London, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington.

In good condition. Partially slightly waterstained in the gray of the outer background. The corners of the sheet slightly bumped in places. A tiny tear in the lower margin. The application of paint is of great intensity and full of strong expressiveness due to its structure and the scratching.
